Idaho State University, Institute of Rural Health
As the State’s health sciences institute of higher learning, Idaho State University (ISU) is uniquely positioned to provide and facilitate education, service, and research opportunities across all disabilities. The Institute of Rural Health (IRH) is located within the Kasiska College of Health Professions at ISU. Its mission is to improve the health of communities through research, education, and service. With strong collaborative relationships and longstanding cooperative ties, IRH faculty and staff members served and continue to serve as the frontline “field team” for the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) State Planning and Implementation grants. As the subcontracting unit under the Planning and first Implementation grants, the IRH worked in cooperation with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, developing goals and a work plan, and submitting non-competitive renewal applications to the funding agency. Now the Lead State Agency for TBI, the IRH continues to work cooperatively with other state agencies and with the TBI Advisory Council to facilitate the advancement of TBI at the local, state and national levels.
