BLUE CROSS OF IDAHO AWARDS IDAHO STATE UNIVERSITY GRANT TO HELP SCREEN FOR TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY

 

Adults screened for traumatic brain injury through Idaho State University’s Traumatic Brain Injury Program will be eligible for $50 vouchers for additional treatment, thanks to a $500 grant from the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health.

21st ANNUAL SOUTH EAST IDAHO HOMELESS STAND DOWN

 

OCTOBER 29, 2016 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Idaho State University – Reed Gym

This event takes place every October to help homeless individuals of the Pocatello community prepare for the winter months. ISU’s Reed Gym acts as a one-stop shop for resources such as free hot meals, haircuts, showers, and clothing. Additionally, healthcare services will take place at this event, including screenings for TBI.

BRAIN INJURY IMPACTS CLASS

 

October 8, 2016 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Location: ISU Meridian

New Knowledge Adventures, a collaborative program brought to you by the YMCA, AARP, and ISU-Meridian will be offering a course on brain injury impacts. The second leading cause of head injury in older adults is falling. The class covers the challenges that ensue after someone sustains a head injury and explores how these physical, cognitive, and emotional changes might be distinguished from other current difficulties that a person may be experiencing. The class will discuss the usual course of treatment, including strategies that help individuals function more effectively and independently.

TBI TRAINING INCLUDED IN INTER-PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION ELECTIVE COURSE

 

September 10, 2016 

A 90-minute TBI training was included in an inter-professional education elective course at ISU-Meridian. Students were presented with a comprehensive overview of TBI, including how it can occur and its effects. Students were instructed on how to use the OSU-TBI screening tool and had the opportunity to become familiar with the tool by dividing into groups and practicing with case scenarios.
